Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has assured Malaysians that the country has sufficient fuel stocks to meet domestic demand through April and May, despite global energy volatility and maritime disruptions. Speaking after Friday prayers in Kuala Lumpur, Anwar said the Cabinet is monitoring the situation daily to ensure stability.
“The fuel supply for April and May appears to be in a controlled state. Beyond this, there is enforcement in place to oversee the overall situation,” he said.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining RON95 petrol subsidies, acknowledging the financial strain but stressing the importance of easing public burdens.
He urged citizens to avoid excessive consumption to help safeguard the national economy. Diesel subsidies will also continue, with targeted assistance provided to farmers, smallholders, and fishermen.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah of Selangor for highlighting the energy crisis and calling for special prayers.
