Malaysia's E&E Trade Shines with 15% YoY Growth, but Bursa Tech Index Sinks 26%
KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia is widening its global trade network through new semiconductor and technology partnerships with emerging economies, said Deputy Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Liew Chin Tong. He told Parliament that Malaysia will soon sign a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) on semiconductors with Brazil, while talks with India are progressing on a similar agreement covering other sectors.
Liew said Malaysia also seeks to deepen ties with Bangladesh, Pakistan, and BRICS nations through technology transfer and cooperation initiatives. This diversification aligns with the Madani government’s strategy to reduce reliance on Western markets, particularly the United States. He added that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will visit Africa in November to further open new markets and strengthen partnerships.
