Malaysia, Singapore Boost Ties in Trade, Digital Economy, and Energy

On May 26, 2025, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, meeting on the sidelines of the 46th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, agreed to deepen cooperation in investment, trade, digital economy, sustainable energy, and the ASEAN Power Grid. They committed to advancing key projects like the JS-SEZ and RTS Link while resolving bilateral issues constructively for mutual benefit. The summit, themed “Inclusivity and Sustainability,” marks Malaysia’s fifth ASEAN chairmanship. Foreign and trade ministers from both nations attended, with Wong also set to join the ASEAN-GCC and ASEAN-GCC-China summits.
