Malaysian food services brand Tuuu…Dia Pak Tam, led by Haji Ruslin Ibrahim, has successfully expanded into Madinah, Saudi Arabia, showcasing the growing influence of Malaysian brands in the Kingdom. With over 30 years of experience, Pak Tam offers a comprehensive range of services, contributing to the rising popularity of international cuisines in Saudi Arabia and fostering cultural exchange.
The Consul General of Malaysia in Jeddah, Mr. Roslan Sharif, praised Pak Tam’s success and urged Saudi firms to explore collaborative trade opportunities. The inauguration event, officiated by Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah Yusof, marked the brand’s entry into Madinah, where the restaurant, with an 80-seat capacity, contemplates further expansion and investment in a catering facility in Makkah. This strategic move aims to cater to the growing demand from Hajj and Umrah pilgrims.
Pak Tam is actively pursuing global expansion, planning branches in Seoul, Korea, and Tokyo and Osaka, Japan, in preparation for the Osaka International Expo 2025. MATRADE Jeddah stressed the significance of Malaysian brands in Saudi Arabia, particularly in the ready-to-eat segment and food services industry, with promising opportunities for the Hajj and Umrah sectors.
In 2022, Malaysia’s processed food exports to Saudi Arabia amounted to RM751.25 million (USD158.5 million), constituting 9.5% of total exports. The statement emphasized the capabilities of Malaysian companies to contribute to Saudi Arabia’s food security goals and support its vision of localizing the food manufacturing sector.
“With its already prominent position as a major hub for the F&B industry within the region, the Kingdom currently accounts for an impressive 51% share of total food retail sales in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
“The presence of Pak Tam in Madinah is just one example of Malaysian companies leaving their mark in Saudi Arabia, contributing to market demand and supporting the Kingdom’s food sector development in line with Saudi Vision 2030”, says Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia.
