KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 15 — Malaysians holding Singapore driving licences can reapply for Malaysian licences starting Oct 16, Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced. The move supports the Finance Ministry’s review under the Budi95 targeted fuel subsidy scheme for Malaysians working in Singapore. A special registration portal, http://www.Budi95lesenSG.jpj.gov.my, has been launched, with eligibility checks available via http://www.Budi95.gov.my. Applicants must be Malaysian citizens with valid Singapore licences and active work permits in Singapore.
Once they cancel their Singapore licences, they can apply for reinstatement at any Road Transport Department (JPJ) office. Loke emphasised that the Budi95 subsidy applies only to Malaysian-registered vehicles using RON95 fuel. Around 200,000 Malaysians commute daily between Johor Bahru and Singapore, many owning Malaysian vehicles. The registration process will also help collect data on Malaysians holding Singapore licences for policy evaluation.
