The life of Marina Yusoff, a pioneering figure in Malaysian law and politics, came to a peaceful close yesterday as she passed away in Kuala Lumpur at age 92. Known to the public as the mother of acclaimed actor Ida Nerina, Marina was a formidable force in her own right—a former lawyer and entrepreneur whose convictions shaped the nation’s political landscape.
Her career was marked by a relentless fighting spirit. From her time as a Wanita Umno exco member to co-founding Semangat 46 with Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, she was never afraid of change.
Later, she became a foundational pillar of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), serving as its vice-president during the party’s tumultuous early years.
Surrounded by family and honored by dignitaries and friends from the arts, she was laid to rest at the Bukit Kiara Muslim Cemetery today. Marina Yusoff leaves behind a legacy of resilience, leadership, and unwavering service.
