Global equities traded cautiously higher as investors weighed declining US Treasury yields, technology gains and persistent trade concerns.
US markets closed higher, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 0.30%, the S&P 500 gaining 0.32% and the Nasdaq Composite advancing 0.66%. Semiconductor stocks rebounded, led by Nvidia, which rose 2% to end a seven-day losing streak. AMD and Micron also gained 4.90% and 2.50%, respectively, ahead of Nvidia’s earnings report on Wednesday.

However, weaker-than-expected US consumer confidence and escalating trade tensions between Washington and Ottawa limited broader sentiment. Oil prices also fell sharply, with Brent crude declining 5.39% to US$87.04 a barrel amid easing concerns over renewed conflict in the Persian Gulf.
European markets advanced, while Asian equities were mixed.
Investors now await Nvidia’s results, US GDP and PCE inflation data, alongside the Jackson Hole symposium for signals on Federal Reserve policy.
Overall, trading is expected to remain selective, with corporate earnings likely to drive individual stocks and broader market direction.
