Maxim Malaysia has enhanced its app safety features with an upgraded SOS system, emergency contact alerts, driver assistance notifications and improved trip protection for passengers and partner drivers.
Maxim Malaysia Strengthens Safety Features
Maxim Malaysia has strengthened its commitment to user safety by introducing enhanced in-app safety features, including an upgraded SOS system designed to provide faster access to emergency assistance for both passengers and partner drivers.
The updated SOS button now offers a unified experience, allowing users to either contact emergency services via 999 or instantly notify up to three pre-selected emergency contacts.
When family or friends are alerted, they receive an SMS containing the user’s GPS location and a live route link, ensuring notifications can still be delivered even under poor internet connectivity.
For partner drivers, Maxim has also introduced a dedicated Driver Alert System. This feature enables drivers facing emergencies such as vehicle breakdowns, road accidents, medical incidents or personal safety threats to notify nearby Maxim drivers within a three-kilometre radius.
The closest available driver can provide immediate assistance while emergency responders are on their way.
According to Maxim Malaysia Director Mohd Hazwan Musli, the latest enhancements give users greater flexibility in deciding who should be contacted first during an emergency, whether family members, emergency services or nearby partner drivers.
He noted that reducing response time could make a significant difference in critical situations.
Beyond the upgraded SOS functions, Maxim continues to offer several safety tools, including encrypted in-app messaging, GPS-based trip monitoring and Trip Sharing, which enables passengers to share their live journey with trusted contacts.
The company added that all safety-related data transmitted through SOS, Driver Alert and Trip Sharing is encrypted, securely stored for a limited period and accessible only to authorised safety personnel and emergency authorities when required.
