Kuala Lumpur, November 19, 2024 – Malaysia’s Midwest Composites clinched the Grand Prize at Japan’s prestigious MakiChalle 2024, earning ¥1 million (MYR28K). The company, known for its sustainable composite materials, showcased its innovative BioComposite technology and plans to collaborate with Makinohara City’s green tea farmers and automotive manufacturers.
This victory opens doors for Midwest Composites to expand into Japan’s market, aligning with the country’s sustainability goals. CEO Sethu Raaj emphasized the company’s commitment to driving green innovation and fostering partnerships. The award reinforces Midwest’s role as a leader in eco-friendly materials and global sustainability efforts.
Yoshito Denawa, CEO of CF Startup Partners, praised Midwest Composites’ advanced technology using wasted crops and collaboration plans with Makinohara’s green tea farmers and automakers. Among 149 startups (40 international), the contest emphasized collaboration with local industries, offering prize money and a pathway for overseas winners to enter Japan’s market.
