Dato’ Mohammad Faiz Azmi succeeds Dr. Awang Adek Hussin at SC

The Ministry of Finance (MOF) announced that Dato’ Seri Dr. Awang Adek Hussin will retire as Executive Chairman of the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) on June 15, 2024.

Dato’ Mohammad Faiz Azmi will succeed him, starting June 16, 2024, for a three-year term. Faiz Azmi, who has extensive experience in finance and law, has previously served as Executive Chairman of PwC Malaysia and Chairman of the Malaysian Accounting Standards Board (MASB).

The MOF expressed gratitude for Awang Adek’s contributions, including legal reforms and initiatives like the Social Exchange and the Capital Market Graduate Program (investED).

“MOF is grateful to Dato’ Seri Dr. Awang Adek for his service in SC and believe that his expertise and experience will continue to be utilized by the national financial market,” says YB Senator Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, Minister of Finance II.
