Oracle Lays Off Thousands Amid AI Push
March 31 (Reuters) — Oracle is cutting thousands of jobs worldwide as part of a sweeping restructuring plan, CNBC reported, citing sources familiar with the matter. The company declined to comment, but employees shared details on Reddit, X, and Blind, fueling uncertainty.
The layoffs come as Oracle ramps up investment in artificial intelligence infrastructure to compete with Alphabet and Amazon. In a March filing, Oracle said restructuring costs could reach US$2.1 billion, mainly for severance. Shares rose over 5% despite being down 29% this year. Oracle employed about 162,000 staff globally as of May 2025.
