Perodua launches first EV QV-E priced at RM80,000, developed by 100 local experts
Perodua has launched its first battery electric vehicle, the QV-E, priced at RM80,000 before insurance and without the battery. The model marks a major step for the national carmaker in building a sustainable local EV ecosystem.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the QV-E required RM800 million in development costs and involved more than 100 local experts under the New Industrial Master Plan 2030, which appointed Perodua as the national leader for EV development. He noted initial doubts about local capability but said the launch proves the skill and determination of Malaysian talent. He described the QV-E as a significant achievement for the country’s automotive sector.
