Police in Petaling Jaya dismantled the largest international drug trafficking syndicate on Malaysia’s east coast in 2025, seizing 590kg of methamphetamine and heroin base valued at RM25 million in two raids in Setiu, Terengganu. The drugs, sourced from Vietnam via the Golden Triangle, entered through Kelantan and Terengganu waters. A second raid near Pulau Tok Bilal led to the arrest of a 39-year-old local man with 1.02kg of methamphetamine. The syndicate, active since March, used rented boats disguised as fishing trips to smuggle drugs, which were repackaged in Setiu.
