Proton Opens R&D Facility at Hangzhou Bay, China

PROTON inaugurates its Research & Development center in China, fortifying collaboration with partner Geely, aimed at upgrading homegrown models and EV development.

The facility, part of Geely Automobile Research Institute, strengthens cross-border synergy and innovation, fostering talent acquisition and knowledge sharing.

With three core departments overseeing operations, the center focuses on vehicle R&D, data intelligence, and digitization. Dr. Li Chunrong, PROTON CEO, highlights the milestone, emphasizing its role in expanding global presence and pushing boundaries in mobility.

The center aims to become the sixth R&D hub within Geely Group, enhancing PROTON’s competitiveness and capabilities.

Dr. Li Chunrong remarks, “We have witnessed the birth of a facility that allows us to work closer than ever with our partners and will inspire connections for years to come while helping to expand PROTON’s global presence.”
