GEORGE TOWN, Oct 13 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) arrested a retired soldier in his 60s in Penang for allegedly receiving RM405,000 in bribes. The suspect, detained at 10am at the Penang MACC office, is accused of selling five PVATM apartment units below market value in 2015 while serving as PVATM’s information chief. The bribes were received through 12 bank transactions. Penang MACC director Datuk S. Karunanithy confirmed the arrest, stating the case is under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009. The suspect will face charges at the Butterworth Special Sessions Court for Corruption on Wednesday.
