Riyadh Air Launches First Southeast Asia Route to Kuala Lumpur

Riyadh Air launches inaugural Riyadh–Kuala Lumpur flights, expanding into Southeast Asia with thrice-weekly service to strengthen regional connectivity.

RIYADH, Aug 3, 2026Riyadh Air, Saudi Arabia’s new national carrier, has officially launched its inaugural service between Riyadh and Kuala Lumpur, marking its first gateway into Southeast Asia.

The milestone was celebrated with ceremonies at both King Khalid International Airport (RUH) and Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL), attended by senior government and airport officials from both countries. The new nonstop service will operate three times weekly, strengthening connectivity between Saudi Arabia and Malaysia, one of the region’s most dynamic markets.

The airline described the Kuala Lumpur route as a strategic expansion that builds a vital bridge between Saudi Arabia and the broader ASEAN region. The service is expected to facilitate travel for business, tourism, and education, while supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals of diversifying the economy and enhancing global partnerships.

Malaysia Airports welcomed Riyadh Air as the ninth Middle Eastern airline to serve KLIA, noting that the entry further strengthens Malaysia’s connectivity with the Middle East, an increasingly important market for tourism, trade, and investment. Officials emphasized that the partnership enhances KLIA’s role as a gateway between Southeast Asia and the rest of the world.
