Selangor Tables RM3.23bil Deficit Budget for 2026

Selangor proposes RM3.23bil 2026 budget with RM2.8bil revenue, focusing on flood mitigation, roads, education, and sustainability.

SHAH ALAM: Selangor Mentri Besar Amirudin Shari tabled a RM3.23 billion deficit budget for 2026, themed Selangor Juara, Rakyat Sejahtera (Selangor Champions, People Prosper), at the State Assembly today (Nov 14). Projected revenue stands at RM2.8 billion, with RM1.8 billion (57.6%) for Operating Expenditure and RM1.37 billion (42.4%) for Development Expenditure.

Deficit Budget

The budget outlines six commitments: boosting revenue and economic opportunities; governance reform; future-focused education; arts, culture, and youth empowerment; a caring state; and environmental sustainability with robust infrastructure.

Key allocations include RM55 million for a mega road resurfacing programme and RM54.34 million for flood mitigation, adding 17 projects across major basins like Sungai Klang (RM16.92mil) and Sungai Langat (RM16.51mil). Emphasis targets rapid development areas prone to flash and monsoon floods. Additionally, RM30 million continues the School Assistance Programme to support students statewide.
