Singapore Under Active Cyberattack by State-Linked Group UNC3886, Says Minister

Singapore is currently facing an ongoing cyberattack on its critical information infrastructure by UNC3886, a state-sponsored cyber espionage group. Speaking on July 18, National Security Minister K. Shanmugam confirmed the threat and described UNC3886 as a highly sophisticated, persistent actor targeting vital infrastructure. While the group’s exact sponsor was not named, experts have linked UNC3886 to China. First identified by Mandiant in 2022, the group uses advanced techniques like zero-day exploits and custom malware to spy, steal data, or disrupt services. Singapore’s Cyber Security Agency (CSA) and relevant agencies are actively working to counter the attack.
