Solarvest, Press Metal to Build RM380 Million 100MW Solar Farm in Sarawak
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 5— Solarvest Holdings Berhad and Press Metal Berhad have inked a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Syarikat Sesco Berhad for a 100-megawatt (MWac) solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant in Mukah, Sarawak. The project, developed through their joint venture Mukah Solar Powerplant Sdn Bhd (MSPSB), will cost an estimated RM380 million and is slated for commercial operation by November 2027.
Solarvest holds a 60% stake in MSPSB, while Press Metal owns 40%. The project aligns with Sarawak’s Energy Transition Strategy (SET-P) and Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, targeting 10GW of renewable capacity by 2030.
Expected to offset 46,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually, the project will also create up to 2,000 jobs and strengthen Solarvest’s EPCC orderbook, which is projected to reach RM3 billion. The initiative reinforces both companies’ commitment to advancing Sarawak’s clean energy future and Malaysia’s net-zero ambitions.
