Sultan Azlan Shah Airport (LTSAS) in Ipoh has undergone a major upgrade, increasing its annual passenger capacity by 40% to 700,000 from 500,000. The project, part of Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd’s (MAHB) strategy to optimize infrastructure and enhance passenger experience, includes a redesigned terminal layout and expanded facilities.
The terminal space grew by over 10% to 3,257 square metres, doubling peak-hour capacity to 510 passengers. Holding lounges were enlarged to 270 square metres, with new seating for 80% of peak demand. Launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the upgrade supports MAHB’s commitment to equitable regional development and Malaysia’s goal to become a leading aviation hub, promoting inclusive mobility and sustainable economic growth.
