SunStrong Entertainment is making a significant investment in the Malaysian film industry, pledging one million US dollars to support the production of the upcoming film “He Sang A Dirge.” This commitment follows the success of the company’s Scam Prevention Short Film Contest, which provided a platform for filmmakers to address social issues. The contest concluded with an award ceremony in Beijing, where winners received cash prizes totalling US$128,000 (RM600,000). Furthermore, the top ten finalists in the Open Category were given the opportunity to submit film proposals to SunStrong Entertainment, with the winning proposal receiving a US$1 million (RM4.73 million) investment.

The company carefully selected “He Sang A Dirge” by filmmaker Loh Din Yung, whose previous work, “Bad Day,” secured second place in the Scam Prevention Short Film Contest. The upcoming film is inspired by real events involving fraudulent tuition centres in Malaysia that offer fake degrees to recruit tutors. SunStrong Entertainment’s founder, Jment Lim, emphasized their commitment to drawing attention to scams and creating a safer, more harmonious society. This investment continues the company’s support for the local film industry, as seen with “Snow In Midsummer” and “Pavane for an Infant.” These films address significant social issues and have garnered international recognition.
