Trump Nominates Controversial Alpha Male Nick Adams as Malaysia Envoy
Former U.S. President Donald Trump has nominated Australian-born commentator Nick Adams as ambassador to Malaysia, announcing it on Truth Social on July 10. Adams, who became a U.S. citizen in 2021, has a controversial history of remarks about Islam, previously calling “Radical Islam” one of America’s greatest enemies and criticising efforts to include Islamic studies in schools. His nomination to a Muslim-majority country has sparked criticism. During Trump’s 2024 campaign, Adams notably shifted tone to appeal to Muslim voters disillusioned by President Biden’s pro-Israel stance. Known online as a self-proclaimed “alpha male,” Adams frequently posts about traditional masculinity, steaks, and Hooters, and has authored books glorifying Trump while attacking Biden. Before moving to the U.S., Adams served briefly in local Australian government but faced disciplinary proceedings for behaviour that colleagues deemed damaging to their party’s reputation. In a video, Adams called his appointment “the honour of a lifetime” to spread Trump’s goodwill to Malaysia.
