WASHINGTON, Aug 1 — The United States has revised its tariff on Malaysian imports, reducing it to 19 per cent effective today, following months of negotiations between both governments. Initially, the US had planned to impose a 25 per cent blanket tariff on Malaysian goods starting August 1, up from the 24 per cent announced in April. However, a series of talks — the latest held on June 18 — led to a lower rate. Trump wants Malaysian firms to shift production to the US to avoid tariffs.
