US Confirms Florida Surgeon Dr Anjani Sinha as New Ambassador to Singapore
WASHINGTON – The United States Senate has confirmed Dr Anjani Sinha, an orthopaedic surgeon from Florida, as the next US Ambassador to Singapore. His confirmation came on Oct 7 through an en bloc vote that approved over 100 of President Donald Trump’s nominees, following a rule change allowing confirmations by simple majority. The move, passed 51-47, marked the largest single round of confirmations under Trump’s administration.
Dr Sinha, who has practised in New York and Florida, was described by the US State Department as well qualified due to his business and healthcare expertise. In his July testimony, he praised Singapore as “a key strategic partner and friend in the Indo-Pacific.” The India-born surgeon is known to be close to the Trump family and was nominated in March via a Truth Social announcement.
