ASEAN DSE 2025 Empowers Youth with Data Skills for a Sustainable Future

KUALA LUMPUR, 30 October 2025 – The ASEAN Foundation, in partnership with SAP, concluded the ASEAN Data Science Explorers (ASEAN DSE) 2025 Regional Finals, uniting 22 students from 10 ASEAN Member States. The competition showcased youth-led, data-driven innovations tackling key socio-economic and environmental challenges aligned with six Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Data Skills

Team DataMinions from Lao PDR emerged as the regional winner with their Namjai Smart Water Tank, a solution that filters and monitors water quality while alerting households and authorities to contamination risks. Team Mamamamoodeng from Thailand and Malaysia’s Team MyKXLab were named first and second runner-ups.

Malaysia’s MyKXLab presented Green Circular Credit Scoring (GCCS) and GreenLoop, aiming to enhance plastic recycling rates and promote circular economy adoption across ASEAN. The initiative reinforces ASEAN’s commitment to nurturing digital literacy, innovation, and sustainability among its youth for a competitive global future.
