Asean Confident of Finalising South China Sea Code of Conduct Soon

Asean remains confident that an effective and substantive Code of Conduct (COC) for the South China Sea can be concluded soon, with full commitment from all negotiating parties. Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan emphasised the need to maintain peace and stability, urging all sides to manage tensions wisely. Speaking at the Asean Post-Ministerial Conference with China, he noted the bloc’s strong ties with Beijing and welcomed China’s readiness to sign the SEANWFZ Treaty protocol. He also highlighted Asean-China trade growth, urging vigilance in upholding fair trade systems.
