Malaysia’s Nov-24 passenger traffic reached 89% of pre-pandemic levels (domestic: 83%, international: 94%), with a strong 79% load factor (+5.4 percentage points above pre-pandemic levels).
Growth in International Travel: International traffic continues to outperform domestic. 13 new airlines, including 8 from China, launched services in 2024, with China’s passenger traffic fully recovering by July 2024.
Year-End Estimates: December passenger traffic is projected at 8.5–10.0 million, bringing CY24 totals to 93.6–95.1 million passengers. Long-term growth is supported by efforts to attract over 25 new airlines within two years.
Challenges Ahead: Full recovery is anticipated in 2025, with 4% growth over CY19 levels. Key risks include fleet delays (AirAsia Malaysia), aircraft delivery disruptions, and supply chain challenges.
