No Criminal Elements Found in 1BestariNet Project Probe
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) announced no criminal elements were found in the 1BestariNet project investigation involving YTL Communications and the Education Ministry.
The RM4.47 billion project, initiated under Najib Abdul Razak’s leadership in 2011, aimed to provide broadband services and virtual classrooms for schools.
Despite concerns over financial discrepancies and connectivity issues, MACC’s probe since September concluded no wrongdoing in the tender’s execution.
The deputy public prosecutor decided against pursuing charges. MACC suggested that YTL Communications and the Education Ministry renegotiate terms to address delivery issues. Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin was the education minister when the project began.
