KUCHING: CelcomDigi Berhad and Hospital Pengajar Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (HPUNIMAS) have launched MediRover and MediDoc, two digital healthcare solutions aimed at improving access to medical services for rural communities in Sarawak. Officiated by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof, the initiative uses 5G, AI, and satellite connectivity to connect patients with specialists remotely.
MediRover serves as a mobile clinic offering teleconsultations, diagnostics, and remote monitoring, while MediDoc establishes “Klinik Angkat” sites that link rural healthcare workers with HPUNIMAS specialists in real time. CelcomDigi Chief Innovation Officer T. Kugan said the collaboration showcases how technology can bridge healthcare gaps, while HPUNIMAS Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Ahmad Hata Rasit described it as a milestone in academic-driven innovation.
Over 8,000 Sarawakians have benefited from MediRover’s pilot phase. The project supports Malaysia’s 13th Plan objective of nationwide digital health integration by 2030.
