Economics: June 2026 CPI – June Inflation Eased Marginally

Malaysia’s headline CPI eased to +1.9% YoY in June from +2.0% in May, while underlying price pressures remained contained. We maintain our 2026 CPI forecast at +2.1% YoY and our OPR call at 2.75% through end-2026.

June Inflation

Renewed US-Iran escalation and Brent’s move above our USD70-85/bbl 2H26 range have raised upside risks through energy, freight and broader supply-chain costs, although BUDI95 should continue to cushion the direct household impact.

“We expect BNM to remain on hold unless second-round effects become more broad-based,” says PIB analysts.
