KUALA LUMPUR: From rural Malaysia to outer space, DE-CIX is redefining how the world connects. Through its Space-IX platform, the global Internet Exchange operator is enabling communication between Earth and orbit using laser-linked satellites and AI systems.
CEO Ivo Ivanov said the goal is to build “an interconnected universe serving humanity.” The initiative aligns with Malaysia’s Madani Economy and JENDELA plans to expand digital inclusion. Low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, offering latency as low as 20 milliseconds, are central to this vision—enhancing smart ports, cloud gaming, and rural connectivity in Sabah and Sarawak. With the global space economy projected to hit USD 1.8 trillion by 2035, Malaysia’s role is becoming increasingly strategic.
