Driverless Coal Trucks Revolutionize Mining in Inner Mongolia

In one of China’s largest open-pit coal mines in Inner Mongolia, a fleet of 100 driverless electric mining trucks is redefining efficiency. These autonomous vehicles, equipped with no cabins or steering wheels, haul 90 tons of coal over 60 kilometers on a single charge, with battery swaps completed in under six minutes. Powered by a 5G-A-enabled unmanned dispatch system, the trucks use AI to optimize loading and unloading, navigating challenging terrain with centimeter-level precision via GPS, LiDAR, RTK, and inertial sensors. Mobile battery-swap platforms with robotic arms achieve a 98% success rate, eliminating bulky charging stations. This innovative system, integrating advanced chips, networks, and cloud technology, marks a cleaner, smarter era of mining, surpassing human capabilities and setting a new standard for the industry.
