Ringgit To Continue Facing Volatility Amid Global Trade Concerns
BATU PAHAT: A 67-year-old retiree lost RM1.7 million to an online investment scam promising 50% returns within three months. Batu Pahat OCPD ACP Shahrulanuar Mushaddat said the victim found the investment ad on social media last December and transferred funds between April and July this year. Although his account showed RM2 million in profit, he was asked to make further payments to withdraw, which he refused. The suspect is uncontactable, and the investment account has been blocked. Police are investigating under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating. Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant against such scams.
