EKTA Club Kuala Lumpur & Selangor offers five RM5,000 scholarships to support Sikh students pursuing vocational education and industry-relevant TVET careers.
EKTA Promotes TVET Opportunities
Sikh school-leavers are being encouraged to pursue Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as EKTA Club Kuala Lumpur & Selangor offers five scholarships worth RM5,000 each.
The EKTA TVET Scholarship aims to support Sikh students pursuing vocational education while challenging perceptions of TVET as a second-choice pathway.
The programme highlights growing demand for skilled workers in Malaysia’s semiconductor, renewable energy, electric vehicle, logistics, hospitality, construction and advanced manufacturing sectors.
Datuk Dr Saran Kaur Gill, Chair of EKTA Youth Development & Life-Long Learning, said TVET was particularly suitable for students who preferred practical, hands-on learning.
“TVET provides the opportunity to develop practical in-demand skills for the workplace. It can lead to a career, further studies or even entrepreneurship,” she said.
The scholarship is open to Sikh students entering or pursuing Sijil Vokasional Malaysia, Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia or Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia programmes at public vocational colleges.
Selection will consider financial need, academic effort, interest in TVET, leadership, community service and personal statements. Recipients will also receive mentoring, counselling and leadership development opportunities.
Applications are open to students enrolled in vocational colleges with no closing date, with enquiries directed to ektamalaysia@gmail.com
