KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14, 2026: The FBM KLCI extended its recovery on Tuesday, rising 5.34 points, or 0.33%, to 1,623.35 from Monday’s close of 1,618.01, despite weak market breadth and continued foreign selling pressure.
Decliners outnumbered gainers by 813 to 381, indicating that the rebound remained concentrated in selected large-cap stocks.
Healthcare led sectoral gains, advancing 1.74%, followed by finance, which rose 0.93%, and real estate investment trusts (REITs), which gained 0.38%.
market breadth
Technology stocks were the biggest laggards, falling 4.07%, while construction and telecommunications and media each declined 0.86%.
The benchmark is expected to trade cautiously with a positive bias, supported by bargain hunting and resilient domestic economic fundamentals. However, persistent foreign selling and regional technology weakness could restrict further gains.
The 1,600 level remains immediate support, while a break below it could expose the index to 1,580. Resistance is expected within the 1,625–1,650 range, with a move above 1,650 needed to strengthen the bullish outlook.
Financial stocks and REITs are expected to attract selective interest, while renewed Middle East tensions could support energy counters.
