FedEx Express marked its 30th anniversary in Malaysia with a series of tree-planting activities, reflecting its commitment to sustainability and community engagement. Around 100 FedEx volunteers joined hands to plant 100 tree seedlings in Desaru, Johor Bahru, and Balik Pulau, Penang.
These efforts align with FedEx’s dedication to a sustainable planet and involve preserving and restoring Malaysia’s natural heritage in Johor Bahru and establishing a food forest and seed bank to promote sustainable food production in Penang.
Tien Long Woon, Managing Director of FedEx Express Malaysia, emphasized the company’s commitment to creating a better world by supporting environmental preservation and community development. FedEx has played a significant role in connecting Malaysian businesses with global opportunities for the past three decades. The company introduced direct services in Malaysia in 1993, expanded its network, and opened a facility in Batu Kawan in 2020.
Now, FedEx employs over 1,700 team members in Malaysia, serving a wide range of businesses, from startups to international corporations, with international express delivery services and advanced digital shipping tools.
In addition to its business operations, FedEx is actively pursuing sustainability initiatives in Malaysia. This includes introducing electric vehicles into its fleet to reduce environmental impact and promote sustainable logistics. FedEx’s efforts in empowering young talent and promoting sustainability have been recognized with the ‘Sustainability and CSR Malaysia Awards 2023′.
