The 2024 Integral Conversation, held from October 17 to 19 in Guilin, China, gathered nearly 300 representatives from government, business, education, and cultural sectors to explore pathways toward “sustainable well-being.” The event, hosted by the Integral Institute, focused on four key themes: supply chains, nature and culture, social and economic innovation, and education.
Keynote speeches and panel discussions emphasized sustainability, innovation, and technology’s role in improving quality of life. Edgar Tung, CEO of Tessellation Group, highlighted the importance of technologies like AI, biotech, and renewable energy in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs).
Teresa Yang, Vice Chairman of Esquel Group, discussed sustainable practices in employee meals, while Frank Ning, former Chairman of Sinochem Holdings, addressed China’s leadership in environmental sustainability through energy transition.
Key sessions included “Rethinking Supply Chains,” which focused on sustainable, low-carbon global production, and “Harmonizing Nature and Culture,” exploring the integration of local culture with sustainability in architecture and rural development. Another panel discussed social and economic innovation, including advances in ship design and healthcare systems, while an education session reimagined global well-being through inclusive learning.
Professor Hau Lee, Council Chair of the Integral Institute, closed the event, emphasizing the importance of diverse perspectives in reshaping approaches to sustainability.
