The International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (IGEM) will host its 15th edition from October 9 to 11, 2024, in Kuala Lumpur. This event is expected to attract 48,000 participants and 480 exhibitors from 48 countries, generating an estimated MYR 4.8 billion in business leads.
Organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES) and co-organized by the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC), IGEM aims to position Malaysia as a regional leader in green technology. With support from the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), the event focuses on innovations to combat climate change and foster a green economy.
The theme for IGEM 2024 is “Race Towards Net Zero: Regional Leadership for Climate Urgency,“ emphasizing the urgency of collective action against climate change. This year’s event will serve as a platform for discussions on sustainability and green technologies, particularly as Malaysia prepares for significant milestones like COP29 in Azerbaijan and its ASEAN chairmanship in 2025.
A key feature will be the Clean Energy Transition Asia (CETA) Summit, which will gather ministers, policymakers, and private sector leaders to discuss Asia’s clean energy transition. Notable speakers include Ken Haig from Amazon Web Services, Pras Ganesh from Toyota Motor Asia, and Davis Chong from Solarvest. The summit aims to foster public-private collaborations to accelerate clean energy initiatives.
In addition to the summit, IGEM 2024 will include initiatives such as Mobility X, focused on decarbonizing transportation, and the Green Job Fair, connecting employers with talent in the green economy. Other highlights include the Circular Economy Showcase and the unveiling of the Malaysia Pavilion at COP29.
IGEM has historically attracted participants from countries like Canada, Austria, Sweden, and Finland, facilitating global collaboration in green technology. The event is supported by strategic partnerships, including a collaboration with Petronas, and sponsorships from organizations like OCBC, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), and Solar First.
Since its inception in 2009, IGEM has welcomed over 600,000 visitors from 122 countries and generated more than MYR 53.1 billion in business leads. Admission to IGEM 2024 is free with prior registration, encouraging widespread participation in the pursuit of sustainability and green innovation.
