Johor Allocates RM802mil for Urban Development, Smart City Projects by 2026

The Johor government has earmarked RM802 million for the development of areas under its 16 local authorities by 2026, focusing on urban beautification, recreation, flood management, Smart City initiatives, roads, public facilities, and tourism. State Housing and Local Government Committee chairperson Jafni Shukor said 82 high-impact projects worth RM310.9 million will be implemented, including markets, futsal courts, smart streetlights, and flood mitigation works. Johor also targets 30,000 affordable housing units by 2026 and 100,000 by 2030. Jafni said Smart City projects such as digitalised systems and smart traffic lights will place Johor on par with regional developed cities.
