Landmark Deal on PETRONAS-Petros Issues to be inked soon
Sarawak and the Federal Government are set to sign an agreement addressing key issues between PETRONAS and Petros, Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg announced. The agreement, expected within two days, will recognise both federal and state laws and formally acknowledge Petros as the sole gas aggregator in Sarawak. It will also include a commercial component to increase Sarawak’s stake in LNG. The consensus was reached during a meeting between Abang Johari and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on May 9. This move aims to ensure effective collaboration between PETRONAS and Petros, resolving ongoing jurisdictional and operational disputes.
