The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has uncovered the suspected misappropriation of RM26 million in public donations by an NGO between 2015 and 2025. Five individuals, including the NGO’s top officials, were arrested under Op Serantau, with raids conducted in Selangor, Melaka, and Penang. The suspects allegedly used donation funds for personal gain, including purchasing jewellery, property, vehicles, and cryptocurrency. MACC has seized assets worth over RM8 million and frozen 14 bank accounts containing nearly RM5 million. Some of the funds intended for humanitarian projects, like building wells in Syria, were reportedly diverted for private use.
