Focused on the Asia-Pacific region, the survey unveiled a worrisome surge in cyber threats, emphasizing automation’s vital role in bolstering cybersecurity strategies.

Heightened Cyber Risks

Phishing took precedence, concerning 54% of organizations, while ransomware incidents doubled, proving a challenge for over 50% compared to the prior year. Remote work contributed to an 88% rise in insider threats.

Challenges and Strain

Dealing with an average of 221 incidents daily, organizations grappled with alert fatigue. With a shortage of SecOps professionals—just one for every 230 employees—cybersecurity teams faced immense pressure, handling numerous alerts in tight time frames.

Automation as a Solution

Although 92% adopted automation, realizing productivity gains and faster incident detection, its full potential remained untapped.

Future Focus

Respondents aimed to implement automation tools in the next year, targeting enhanced threat detection and streamlined response handling. Top priorities included fortifying network security, raising staff cyber awareness, and strengthening threat response.

Industry experts stressed a risk-centric approach, advocating AI integration, staffing reevaluation, and prioritizing automation to navigate evolving threats effectively. They emphasized automation’s pivotal role in fortifying cybersecurity defenses.

The survey underscored Malaysia’s urgent need for advanced cybersecurity measures, particularly addressing phishing and ransomware challenges. Emphasizing automation’s role in fortifying defenses against evolving threats, organizations aimed to strategically adopt automation for a robust cybersecurity posture against dynamic threats.

This dynamic shift from static controls to a risk-centric cybersecurity posture aligns seamlessly with the evolving technological landscape.
