SHAH ALAM: Malaysia’s courier market is expected to reach between RM6.8 billion and RM6.9 billion in 2025, fuelled by rapid e-commerce growth, said Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil. Speaking at the launch of SPX Express’ Bukit Raja Selatan Sorting Centre, he said the surge in parcel volume reflects the success of government initiatives to strengthen the e-commerce ecosystem and digital infrastructure, including nationwide 5G coverage.
The new 30,000-square-metre SPX facility, featuring an RM63.2 million Automated Sorting Machine, has created over 1,000 jobs in engineering, digital technology, and AI development. Fahmi urged SPX to establish a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme to enhance workforce skills and called for greater collaboration with higher education institutions. He said Malaysia’s courier sector is evolving into a high-tech industry, offering strong potential for innovation and job creation.
