On May 27, 2025, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand signed the Framework of Cooperation (FoC) in Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine (CIQ) under the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) during the 46th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur. Signed by Indonesia’s Airlangga Hartarto, Malaysia’s Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, and Thailand’s Julapun Amornvivat, the FoC aims to streamline cross-border movement of goods and people, enhancing efficiency, security, and trade competitiveness. Launched in 1993, IMT-GT promotes economic development through trade, tourism, and infrastructure. The summit, under Malaysia’s 2025 ASEAN Chairmanship, emphasizes “Inclusivity and Sustainability.”
