PUTRAJAYA, 22 August 2025 – The Malaysian Government has reached a landmark settlement with JPMorganChase, resolving all historic and future matters related to the scandal-hit 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
Under the agreement, JPMorganChase will contribute RM1.4 billion (USD330 million) to Malaysia’s Assets Recovery Trust Account. The bank made the settlement without admission of liability.
The deal covers all existing and potential claims, effectively barring both parties from pursuing any future litigations linked to 1MDB. As part of the resolution, both sides will also withdraw all pending appeals in connection with the lawsuit previously filed by 1MDB against J.P. Morgan (Switzerland) Ltd in the High Court of Kuala Lumpur.
The Ministry of Finance, in its statement, said the settlement marks another significant step in Malaysia’s ongoing efforts to recover funds lost through 1MDB.
