MBSJ Defends Subang Flyover Project Amid Residents’ Protests - Photo for illustration purpose only
The Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) has defended its decision to construct a new flyover linking Persiaran Lagoon Selatan to the Subang–Kelana Link, following protests from SS14 residents. The council said the project is part of a strategic plan to reduce traffic congestion in Subang, Sunway, and USJ.
MBSJ denied allegations of bypassing residents, noting that engagement sessions were held in May and October 2023, followed by a townhall in November 2024. It told The Star that residents’ feedback and technical input had been incorporated into the final design.
The council added that the project passed technical assessments, including traffic impact and road safety audits, with approvals from agencies such as the Public Works Department and Royal Malaysia Police. Conducted entirely on government land, MBSJ said no environmental or social impact studies were required.P
