KUALA LUMPUR — The 12-year-old son of Pandan MP Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli was attacked and injected with an unknown substance by two unidentified assailants at a Putrajaya shopping mall on Wednesday.
Rafizi said medical tests will take up to six months to determine whether the injection contained drugs, poison, or a viral agent such as hepatitis or HIV. For now, the boy is in stable condition and has been discharged from hospital, even returning to school the next day.
The suspects, dressed in black and wearing full-face helmets, allegedly followed Rafizi’s wife’s car before the attack. CCTV checks showed they had been tailing the vehicle on a motorcycle and may have been lying in wait before striking.
During the attack, one assailant allegedly grabbed the boy and jabbed a syringe into his arm before fleeing. Rafizi said this is the first time his family has been directly targeted and described it as “beyond the limits of humanity.”
Police have recorded statements from six individuals, including Rafizi, his wife, and the victim. Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar confirmed additional security has been assigned to protect the family while investigations continue.
