Najib Sentenced to 15 Years in Prison in 1MDB Case
KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court has ruled that former prime minister Najib Razak must pay SRC International Sdn Bhd US$1.3 billion for breaching fiduciary duties. Justice Ahmad Fairuz Zainol Abidin found Najib liable for US$1.18 billion in losses and US$120 million in damages after misappropriating funds into his personal account.
The ruling underscores Najib’s abuse of position and bad faith in orchestrating the scheme. An interim stay was granted while Najib files a formal application for a stay of execution pending appeal within 14 days. Costs will be determined later, marking a significant legal setback for Najib.
