Petronas Gas Vows Safety After Putra Heights Explosion

Petronas Gas Bhd (PGB) has pledged full transparency and continued safety improvements following the April 1 Putra Heights gas explosion. PGB acknowledged investigation findings showing that the pipe failure was due to unsupported, damp soil causing stress and eventual rupture. The Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) confirmed the pipe met technical standards but suffered tensile overload, leading to a gradual ductile failure and fire. PGB assured the public that its gas transmission system remains safe and resilient, supported by decades of engineering and operational expertise.
