In 2023, PROTON achieved its best sales performance since 2012, selling 154,611 units, marking a 9.3% increase from the previous year.
The success was propelled by strong demand for PIES models (Persona, Iriz, Exora, and Saga) and the popularity of their X-series SUV lineup (Proton X50, X70, and X90). The Proton Saga emerged as the best-selling model, with impressive sales of 70,184 units.
Despite chip shortages in 2022, models like the Proton Persona rebounded remarkably, while the Proton Exora, in its final production year, secured strong sales. The company maintained a 19.4% market share, holding the second position in overall sales for the fifth consecutive year.
The PROTON CEO, Dr. Li Chunrong, credited the success to Malaysians’ positive response to Proton’s products, emphasizing the brand’s commitment to affordable vehicles, stylish design, advanced technology, and safety across their vehicle lineup.
Looking ahead to 2024, the company is confident in sustaining momentum with the introduction of the new S70 model and enhancing customer experiences at showrooms and service centers.
“We recognize the journey we’ve undertaken thus far, and beyond delivering quality vehicles, we understand the significance of providing pride of ownership with owners.
“Our dedication to improving after-sales service and parts has played a crucial role in reaching this milestone as PROTON remains steadfast in its commitment to continuous improvement and resolute in meeting and surpassing the expectations of our customers”, reflects Roslan Abdullah, the Chief Executive Officer of Proton Edar and Deputy CEO of PROTON
